Just grab Ifan and use Finesse persuasion. If it's too rarely used, I think I'd rather breath fire. Encounters also have a modifier. These fights were given like 5xp per kill or something so balance isn't affected. in fact, i highly recommend it. For combat in DOS2 you get action points you can spend each turn and skills/spells just have cooldowns for however many turns each.
